Most of my still life work is constructed carefully in the studio. I begin with a simple setup: a table, a neutral grey background and a single light source. From there, the scene slowly takes shape. The main objects are placed first, and then additional elements are introduced one by one while I continue photographing and refining the composition.
The process is gradual and deliberate. I keep shooting, observing the frame, adjusting the position of objects and shaping the light until the balance feels right. Different materials respond to light in different ways – glass reflects, fruit absorbs, liquids glow – so the lighting is constantly adapted to reveal the texture and character of each element.
Directional light and dark backgrounds often help create depth and atmosphere, allowing shadows and highlights to define the scene. The goal is not only technical precision but also a sense of calm and visual clarity.
In this way, each still life becomes a small constructed world. Nothing is accidental: composition, light and texture are carefully built step by step until the image reaches its final form.
